Focus MK2 2005 Ignition Live Fuse

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to hardwire a dashcam into my 2005 MK2 Focus Zetec as I'm growing tired of using a cable into the cigarette socket! The only problem I'm having is that I can't find an ignition live, or switched, fuse to piggyback into in the fusebox. All of the fuses I've tried have provided power to the dashcam when the ignition is off, which I worry will drain my battery pretty quickly. I'm pulling my hair out at the moment as I've tried loads of fuses to no avail! Does anyone know of a switch that is 20A or under (this is what the handbook suggests) that would be suitable? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Adam.

F70, (or F100 in the later fusebox) should be 10A for "electronic modules", including the heater control head. That is certainly shown as being off the ignition supply.

F84 (F141 in the later box) should also be 10A, for reversing lights & mirrors. Also from ignition supply.

Both of these are relatively non-critical, so a short in the dash-cam should not stop the car, or disable a safety system like brake lights or indicators.

Tdci-Peter,

Many thanks for your suggestions. I've just tried F70 now and it has worked a charm, the camera is only coming on when the ignition is on.

Thanks again, Adam.
