How low can you go?

Featured Replies

My car has been standing for three days so I decided to check the battery voltage.I was surprised it started at 11.93v no problem 😯.Is this as low as the voltage will go before not starting?

That's VERY good going, getting a cold diesel started with such low voltage (although it's actually the AMPS that matter more than the voltage).  The 1.8 TDCi takes quite a lot of grunt to turn over, I'd also be keeping an eye on that battery as I'd have thought for the voltage to be that low it's either dying or you make a lot of short journeys so it isn't getting the chance to charge properly.

I do journeys of around thirty plus miles and very few short ones that’s why I have a diesel.I will monitor this now,the battery is about four years old.I have a heavy duty jumperstarter in the back👍.
