Alternator wireing issues

Happy New year's and all that jazz. I was in the middle of changing the alternator  (as of which the wrong one turned up but on inspection the three cables that go into the black plug with yellow insides the cables have come out and does anyone know the order to put them back as that might be the issue and not actually the alternator there is a small 1, 2, 3 one it but not sure of order but I think 3 is blue but don' want to gamble as it' not my car please can someone help if possible as it' needed big time. Many thanks if you can or even know of a site to check as I've done the normal bits and got no where.
