Focus mk2 help

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I've just picked myself a 56 plate focus 1.6 diesel lx and got a few little things ide like to check and get help with

I've currently just changed all front bulbs to led and reverse bulb to led

Shame there isn't a second reverse light so I wanted to change fog surround to a lhd reverse and wire up a second reverse bulb is this actually worth doing? Also is the reverse cluster the same on mk1 and mk2?

Secondly the boot seems very heavy when opening and requires a lot of force to lift. Is this normal or is it a sign that the gas struck aren't working correctly.

am I misunderstanding? are you saying you will replace fog lamp with reversing lamp?  rear fog lamp is a MOT requirement. One lamp which must be central or towards drivers side.

You can fit a left hand drive reverse light unit which is essentially a clear fog light unit.

You then fit a red bulb instead, there is also room in the light housing to fit an additional bulb,

Some people including myself; fit a second reverse light aswell as the red fog light.

I've fitted an "auto off" DRL relay to my rear fog light aswell, this means that if the rear fog light is switched on....

And I put the car in to reverse; the relay automatically turns off the red bulb while the car is in reverse.

I think it's a preface lift so it has the same fog and reversing light as a mk1 but if you can get a get a European left hand drive reversing light then there is no reason why you can't do what Lenny has done.

Lenny has answered the question about the rear reverse light. I would replace the red fog housing with clear and put a red bulb in and then retrofit a second which would be the secondary reverse light

That's exactly what I mean. Is it worth it? Your car looks very smart!

Im just wondering if you know if the rear bumper from a mk2.5 same as yours would fit a pre face-lift. So the mk2 model. The reverse lights slightly different shape but I think it looks better. Thinking would it be worth putting zetec s bumper on

Thanks,

I think it' worth doing it; especially if your fitting a reverse camera which I've also done 👍

The facelift bumper on the rear is a straight swap but for the front to change you need the sub frame panel, side wings, headlights and bonnet to complete the transformation.

I did this mod on my sadly missed mk1.5 2.0 Esp & my current mk2.5 focus Titanium -S.
