Nobody

It's only been 4 hours and it's a Friday night...most people probably have better things to do than be on a forum lol.

Poor mpg this time of year isn't unusual, and it has been extra cold and windy this winter as well.  But I would want to investigate the fuel smell, have you checked for any fuel leaks or exhaust leaks yet?

Could try reseting the info. I think when I reseted the average mpg info on the trip computer it would update a little more often

This seems to bad tho tbh and I have had a look but can't seem to find anything the smell of fuel has me abit worried tho

I run a 2012 1.6 ecoboost.

on a steady run i see about 48mpg, combined run it sitts about 39.5mpg, when i drive it like stole it it dropps to the 20's mpg.

have you tried a steady run on a motorway (if you live close to one).

when was your last service ? and as others have stated get the smell checked first you could have a loose pipe that is feeding the floor more than your car.

Hope you get sorted soon, let us know what you find if you can.

That's exactly what mine used to be at mate  something is definitely wrong it had a full service about 4 months ago and I can't see any patches on the floor after being parked up I have just been told it could possibly be 1 of the injectors leaking how would I confirm this? I dont no if I am being paranoid to but I smelt the oil cap and it smells kind of fuely

i have done that twice mate after a few days mpg go's back down:sad:

Sounds like you may have a dead or failing lambda sensor. If you can get the cars fault codes read and go from there.

If i remember right the best way to see if an injector is leaking on the outside of engine,

remove the black engine cover locate the injectors, as the engine is running have a look around the injector site to see if you can see any leaks or weeping. you poss will not get any drips under when parked up and not running as the fuel when running is under pressure .

I dont know if it could be a sensor that is causing the problems, how does the car drive and accelerate ?  is it lumpy, sluggish or feel as if it has and old fashoned missfire (would hear this)

As Flat four stated can you check for any error codes.

just thinking has it only been like this post service what service was it ? can you take it back to the garage and get them to check that they have not forgoten to tighten up a nut or bolt or clip on a pipe / hose

hope this helps

chris.

Hi Chris,

No mate still havnt got around to sorting it out still been driving it as normal since posting this and staying roughly between 23.8 to 23.9

Anything involving the smell of fuel should have you scurrying to a mechanic to have it looked at.  Aside from the carcinogenic effects of the benzine in the vapour (I'd rather be dumb from lead than dying from benzine, but hey ho), fuel is quite burney.

Leaving that aside, youre a month on and no closer to establishing the cause of the problem, so do the sensible thing and get it looked at proper, like.  At this rate the excess fuel consumption will end up coating you more than a proper repair.
