Add Apple Carplay head unit to Ford Focus

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a Ford Focus with a cd6000 stereo. I want to change the stereo for one with Apple carplay such as this Sony or this cheapo one. It's an oldish car (2007) so I'm not looking to spend 1000s on a new stereo.

  1. Is it just a straight swap? or do I have to get an adaptor to connect the pins at the back?
  2. Will it connect up to the handsfree mic?
  3. When looking for a unit are there any features / specs I have to look for to make sure it will be compatible with the Ford?

I haven't swapped out a head unit since I changed my old MGB in 1993 so excuse my ignorance if I'm asking blatantly obvious questions.

Thanks
