Help, Ford Fiesta Switches off at a stop

Featured Replies

Hi, I need help as to why my car switches off or sometimes looses power as I approach a stop or put my clutch in. I thought it was probably the fuel filter but when I went to Ford today, I was told my car is electronic and doesnt use an ordinary fuel filter and it shouldn't give me any problems. I'm confused now as to what the problem is and what I should do. Its a 2010 Ford fiesta titanium 1.6. PLEASE HELP

I assume its a 1.6 petrol, not diesel?

Best thing to do would be have the ECU checked for fault codes.  My guess would be throttle body fault though.

I'd also go with throttle body. As it is also Fly By Wire, the idle control valve is built into it, so may need a clean out. Whilst you're under the bonnet check for any vacuum lines that are split or have come off too.
