Do Not Sell My Personal Information

2003 1.8 TDCi starts then stalls.

In the mornings, after starting my car, it stalls within 5 sec. Sometimes it will start up again and stay running but at random times after the first stall the engine just cranks and it won't start. Only way to get the engine running again is with pull-start. While pulling the car, it will start within 5-10 meters and after that it works fine the whole day, sometimes whole week or even a month or more. The car will start using the key and drive perfectly (without stuttering, losing power etc) until the stall and crank-no start begins again. Been trying to fix this problem for 3 years, it occurs more often during colder days and also during days with higher humidity.

Things checked and changed (been to 9 different car mechanics):

  • glow plugs
  • fuel filter
  • oil / oil filter
  • air filter
  • crankshaft sensor
  • injectors (repaired, did not fix the problem)
  • timing belt
  • turbo
  • EGR valve (blinded)
  • battery (brand new)
  • Trying to start with MAF unplugged or plugged, same result
  • Ground wire cleaned
  • Diagnostics (5 times atleast, no helpful codes)

If you have any suggestions, please take your time and help a fellow comrade, if more info is needed, feel free to ask.

Feeling hopeless and losing faith in Ford.
