Auto Headlights

Probably been asked a million times, i have the switch for auto headlights that currently just sets them to on, ive read the guide posted on here about possibly using the keyless entry connector in the roof lining to hook up the sensor in the windscreen(Connector fits the sensor)

Am i right in thinking, the keyless entry connector in the roof lining i can just put the correct two wires into the designated points on the BCM connector, then the other wire to ground off (possibly using the large ground bolts for the heated screen)obviously following the correct wiring diagram, i have the sensor already mounted behind the rear view mirror (small round sensor that is "glued" to the screen)

Just looking to get abit of clarification before i go chopping at the roof loom

Cheers

The sensor for the auto lights is on the dash at the bottom of the windscreen.

The two in the rear view mirror are just for the auto dimming feature.

The ones behind the mirror are rain sensors.

Actually it is a part of the rain sensor on the MK3/3.5.....

The one on the dash is a sun sensor for the climate control.

Rain and light sensor are combined.

Sun sensor and light sensor should surely be the same thing.

Weird.

No, effectively the light sensor just measures light levels abd is a simple on or off switch

The sun load sensor is variable depending how how much sun is hitting it so the climate can adjust in increments rather than just on or off.

The way light sensors work is also variable. It's just the cars computer will be set to turn lights on at a certain level and off at another with a certain amount of tolerance built in so they're not constantly on and off.

A sun sensor is just a light sensor unless it also includes a thermometer too.
