Cooling fan issue

Featured Replies

hi guys

my 2008 focus has  an issue where when it's humid and I'm stuck in traffic on a warm day the engine gets hot stopping the car and starting to shut it down but the issue never occurs in general weather and I assume this is because of the air hitting the front of the car.

I have looked online and under the bonnet and have noticed they say (ford) there is a relay which in my car there isn't with one pin where it says there should be a relay ?

I haven't taken the 50 amp fuse out yet should that be my first point of call?

The fan doesn't work even with air con although my air con is very good.

A mechanic friend did plug it in and said it the last issue was fan and that's it

thanks guys all help appreciated

From what I've been taught about fans, the best first step is to fit 2 wire's on the fan ( obviously the live n neutral ) that can reach the battery it spins it's likely to be the relay if the glove box fuse is good. if it doesn't then the fan motor has likely to have gone on it.

I will get this tried this week

I was just curious when I look at the diagram the only fuse I should be looking at is under the bonnet but where it says cooling fan relay and there is just one pin should there be a relay?

Ya see here it says number one and number 15

@Focusladmk2 l wouldn't know that for definite about the no1 fuse but as it states for no15 l would imagine it would only have 1 in there if it's a non air con model, the best l could say about 1 is check on eBay pictures n Google the fuse box for your model n look at a few of the pictures to see if there's any varying difference in them as it'll give you a better idea.
