Really odd problem with 2012 fiesta

Hey all,

I’m having a really odd problem with my car. At around 128 mi to Empty the engine light comes on and the fuel level indicator says 12 mi to empty, the fuel gauge arrow goes beyond the E. After driving a while the fuel level would go back up again. The tank isn’t actually empty and filling the tank with gas fixes the problem.

 

any help would be appreciated
