Fiesta mk8 front interior lamp doesn’t come on

Featured Replies

I have a 2017 Fiesta, one of the new shape ones and I don’t think the interior lamp is working properly. When I unlock the car only the rear one comes on and the front one doesn’t.

If I have just been out in the car and turn the ignition off and lock the car, the light will come on for around 30 minutes afterwards whenever it is unlocked. If it is left longer than that, it doesn’t come on next time I unlock it.

I’ve been to the garage and apparently it is a feature to save the battery that the front light doesn’t come on when unlocking the car and all of the new shape Fiestas do this. Does this seem belivable?

I was wondering if anyone else has a new shape Fiesta, does this happen with yours?

Thanks

The manual says if you have the front light in the 'middle' position, it should come on when you unlock or open a door. Doesn't sound like yours is working properly.

I'd ask to have a look in their showroom or demo cars if they're convinced that's how it works now

I’ve just picked my car back up this afternoon, after abuout the 3rd or 4th time I’ve booked it in to be looked at. I asked to see a new Fiesta to show me that the front interior light didn’t come on.

They brought one round to the front then took it straight back without stopping to show me (I bet the light came on for that one) then they took me out to look at one which had just come in which was set to ‘shipping mode’ so neither front or back came on.

He said that they checked one this morning and the light didn’t come on, but conveniently that one had gone out so I couldn’t look at that one.

They didn’t show me the demonstrator, probably as they knew the light would come on.

i think you have a problem with it.

I have the new mk8 fiesta and the front light always comes on when i open the doors or unlock the car. Also, if it was for battery saving it would be the rear one that shouldnt come on. Get them to fix it.

battery saving is linked to all interior lamps inc  boot space lamp and vanity mirror lamps if fitted

Like merlin-gr, can confirm that mine come on when the door is opened, if the switch is set to the middle position.
