Coolant issue?

Featured Replies

Evening ladies and gents,

I am brand new to the forum having only last week bought my first Ford in years! I have a great little 2016 Focus 1.0 ecoboost with a fraction over 14k on the clock and am loving it BUT, I Have a problem that is foxing me....

After the engine reaches normal running temp I am getting a strong smell of what I think is coolant coming from beneath the bonnet and I am also getting a faint whiff being drawn into the car as well.  I have checked the obvious...no apparent leaks, the header tank is full to the appropriate level and the temp gauge sits at a constant level just below half way.   I have also noticed today that when the engine is switched off there is a strange one-pitch noise coming from somewhere near the front of the engine bay, at least I think that's where its coming from!  Of course the two may not even be connected!

Just wondered, does any of this strike a chord with anyone?  Ideas / solutions greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to you all.

Steve (Hull)
