2012 Fiesta Cutting Out on Takeoff

Featured Replies

Hi guys new here hopefully you can help me?

My fiesta first had a problem about June last year with cutting out when starting (usually taking off from lights) - only symptoms I had which were unusual is the fans seemed to be kicking in when I parked up even with the shortest of journeys.

Eventually it got to the stage were it wouldn’t start at all, and I was advised to change the battery. Which I did and everything was rosy until the last month or two when I noticed the fans becoming nore active yet again - and today it decided to cut out again as I tried to take off from the lights.

I looked at the dash briefly and seen red battery icon and possibly a orange exclamation mark? Upon turning the key again it started right away but I can’t help thinking that soon enough it might get to the stage where it no longer starts.

I have only had the battery like 9 months.

Any ideas, advice or questions for me please? Thanks, it’s a little bit of a worrying issue because I could pull out and it may just cut out on me with oncoming traffic.

thanks

Diesel, 1.6L

@Carl1990 could be the alternator not charging if it gets to a stage of not charging/starting n requires a new battery or a bad earth causing it to drain it while it's sat still ?
