New fiesta arriving this weekend!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys!

Im new to this forum, and this is my first post :D

Im getting my first car on Saturday morning, its a 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta Zetec, brand new on PCP. Deep Impact Blue.

Just wondering if there is anything that I should specifically look out for when accepting a new car?

Thanks

John

Hi and welcome to FOC :)

As for the new car, check all panel gaps and alignment, look down car  for dents and scratches, check alloys for any transit damage.

Much the same as you would for a used car really, except you can be extra picky about having it perfect.

Then just make sure you have both keys, the locking wheel nut key, manual, easy fuel funnel, etc.

Oh and lovely colour btw :D

It was between Panther Black, or Deep Impact blue, but once I saw the blue in person, I knew that was what I wanted.

thanks for the advice, ill be sure to check everything closely. Is it rare for there to be any damage to a new car?

Also, I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of a guide on dash cams. I read about some of them interfering with sat nav, so im not too sure of which one to go for, and how to hardwire them.

Thanks

You can tell im new to this. Somehow managed to write my reply in a quote box.

No worries, I fixed it for you. The forum software can be a bit tricky sometimes.

It is quite common for there to be a few light marks or touch ups needed on a new car, not usually anything major, most can be polished out.

My current car had a mark up the bonnet and on to the roof where it had been caught by a tree on the transporter. Also had some scuffs around the rear light clusters due to the protective film (how ironic) flapping about. Both polished out completely though.

The main thing is to point them out before handover, as if you don't notice until you have driven off, you can't prove it wasn't something you've done.

So, if there are marks like that, do you leave it for them to deal with, or did you just polish it out yourself?

The mark across the bonnet I had spotted before collection day so they sorted that. I didn't see the others until on collection day so they arranged for me to see the valet the following week to have them polished out.

If you are happy to polish them out yourself it will save the hassle of having to go back if they can't do it there and then. Better to do it properly than rushed.

Otherwise just look out for stuff that can't be just polished out.

Also when you get it home, check the tyre pressures as they are often overinflated.

Thanks for your help. Ill let you know how it goes :)

If you do find anything that needs attention, most Ford dealers would give you a courtesy car while it's sorted.   This happened to me on one occasion when I bought a new car.

Make sure that oil and coolant levels are correct, perhaps sounds stupid but I have had the experience of a new vehicle and after getting it home the coolant level was well down.

The dash cam that I have from Roadhawk has been very reliable over the past 3 years that I have had it, the hard wire tucks behind the roof lining and tucked into the post lining on the left hand side to the fuse box behind the glove compartment you cannot even see the wire and no problems with the lining as it just tucks behind.

Check your oil level on receipt and after a couple hundred miles. From what I've heard they tend to send them out slightly over the max mark -- that shouldn't be anything to worry about. The oil level will go down as it goes about all the components; just make sure it doesn't go far below the min mark.

there is a tolerence of 2-4mm over maximum chamfer on dipstick when new and after service
