Reverse park sensors volume

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 62 plate focus. In February my car was in the garage as the vents in the rear bumper leaked water in, and as a result the car interior was soaked from the boot through to the rear passenger foot wells.

Since getting the car back, the reverse park sensors volume had been barely audible. I can hear it with radio off but only just. They still appear to be reliable with regards to parking distance (I hope!!).

Any suggestions as to what could be the issue please? The garage I bought the car from, and who fixed the leak issue, (large nationwide company which are known to charge far too much) checked it over again and claim the sensors are faulty and need fully replaced. How reliable is that diagnosis likely to be?

Thanks in advance.

Ps. This has only been an issue since getting the car back after the leak repair. I'm convinced the garage have mistakenly done something that has affected the volume.... is that possible?

as the sound has reduced, im guessing there not factory fit sensors as the sound comes out the speakers. therefore aftermarket sensors normally have a separate sounder normally located on the underside of parcelshelf support. maybe its been dislodged and fallen behind side trims. try to locate the sounder

Sounds like water damage to the speaker.

How could i figure out if they are factory fired or after purchase fitted please?

The sound comes from the drivers side in the boot, either somewhere up the side level with parcel shelf or behind the casing on the right hand side in the boot. I can't tell which.

The garage are adamant the sensors are faulty and need fully replaced,  almost £300  :(

Aftermarket ones are usually the type with sounders in the boot.
