Rear Window Wire/Clip

Featured Replies

Just picked up a Focus Estate Titanium X this week and (as you do) I'm poking about the inside and outside to see what stuff does.

The offside very rear window has a tiny black wire and clip - it was lose so I fastened it - on the upper edge but I have no idea of its purpose.

Any clues?

This is the connection of the additional FM antenna.

Focus MK3/MK3.5 versions that are equipped with the High Level audio systems have 2 FM antenna's. The main antenna is on top of the roof and the additional antenna is integrated into the left side rear side window (Wagon) or in the rear window (Hatchback/Saloon).

The purpose of the additional antenna is to search for a stronger frequency while listening to an FM radio station. When a stronger frequency is found the radio switches to this frequency using the additional antenna without any temporary loss of signal. This way the radio can switch between different radio frequencies without you even knowing it.
