Coolant leak Mk6 (late 08) Fiesta

Featured Replies

Evening all, hopefully someone on here will have had this problem, there's a very slight coolant leak on my 08 Fiesta, not losing that much but it is noticeable on a weekly check, dropping by about 10mm or os from the Max line. This did happen a little while ago and it was leaking by the thermostat, had a look under the car and noticed some where the leaking coolant was settling, as circled on the pic below. No sludge or anything like that in the oil and can't see any other leaks so any ideas where it is leaking out and how long it'll take to fix? Thanks

Expansion tanks can crack so check there & I'd also be inclined to check the pipes that run off it.  Coolant can also leak from the water pump, has it ever been changed?  If not i guess the gasket could be shot.

Is it definitely leaking or could it be a bit of air in the system making the level  appear drop a bit?

Turns out the coolant tank had a crack near the base of it so since that's been replaced, touch wood, all has been ok with it
