'63 reg Fiesta 1.5 TDCi fuel filter miles

Featured Replies

Fiesta 1.5 TDCi Duratorq

What's the mileage for a filter on one of these?

Mann Filters has quoted part no  WK 9046 z!

Change milage should be 37.5k miles.

But general consensus is change it at 25k. Quite a few block up before 37.5k

Thanks Iantt.

Mann brand filter is about £25 unless of course I should use a Ford OE but I don't know who supplies the Ford factories!

on my 1.6tdci the original was on there until about 115k miles when I started getting problems (cutting out with fault code for low fuel pressure). And it had only ever had supermarket fuel in it. I knew it should be changed much earlier but I was reluctant as I know they are hard to bleed air out , and it did turn out to be a complete ba**ard to get running again.

Well I'm doing the oil and filter so the fuel filter's getting changed while I'm on.

Do these filters need priming before fitting?

You prime the Bora TDI filters and it saves a lot of cranking. 0.6L of new diesel NOT the diesel drained from the old filter otherwise its a waste of time changing the filter.

Stage 5 1.5tdci you have to bleed through the fuel. The later stage 6 you just had to switch ign on for 40secs.

iantt, does this mean they now have an electric fuel pump instead of relying on the belt driven high pressure pump having suck the fuel all the way from the tank?   do you know where the elec pump is? actually in  the tank?.     I am interested as I had a 2007 1.6tdci that was very difficult to get going again after changing filter but I now have 2015 1.5tdci

Yep, fuel pump in tank controlled by a fuel pump driver module.

Well its a '63 (Dec) reg so presumably a mk6 model so ign on for a minute before starting after the new filter fitted I presume.

I'm doing this job next week so now all sorted with the how to. Thanks Gents!

A video on YT for the off/on of the filter.

No, stage 6 emmisions is the ign on. 63 plate will be stage 5.

Stage 6 (euro6 ) reg came out sept 2014 .

mk6 according Millers Oil for the reg

Ford (EU) Fiesta, MK VI (2008- ) Fiesta 1.5 TDCi Duratorq (55 kW) Euro 5

Are stage 5/6 and mk5/6 two separate IDs?

Yep, euro 5 , 6 are emmisions regulations which required different injection/engine modifications, oils etc to meet more stringent emmision requirements

Mk6 is just a reference to a model . Miller's refer to 2008 -2012 as mk 6. Many others refer that age as Mk7, 2013-2017 as mk7.5 2017 onwards mk8

Hopefully I've got the right filter for the car!

Well I got the fuel filter delivered today and I believe the filter in not a genuine Mann product.

There's a printed label, not even on straight I might add, on the filter body rather than the print being embossed on the filter body like all other Mann filters I've had.

One of the screw dowels on the top is not straight either so the screw may not even screw in on reassembly.

Have contacted the seller!

When I get a return/refund sorted out, there's a local motor factor who stocks Purflux brand.

On the matter of the bleed through on the stage 5, with plastic cap fitted, if the unit is filled through the inlet port and left for any air to escape, is that sufficient bleeding?

There's going to be a bit of air in the pipe from the spout when you bleed using a hand primer pump.
