Air con always on

Just one of many problems with this ford focus i have, can anyone tell me when ever i turn fan on the air con comes on automaticly,   cold or hot setting, always have to turn it off, not that it works anyway doesn't blow out cold air .

    I never turn mine off, switch between full demist and auto.

    I never spotted that either! Explains why sometimes it comes on automatically and sometimes doesn't though. I guess it makes sense as you want dry air to demist the windscreen.

    the setting Air COn always on is described in my user manual  - can you use forscan or similar to change it to be normally off?
