Ford Fiesta Finesse 03 - Oil change

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I went to a car shop to get some oil for my car and thry recommended 10w40 but based on my reg and websites such as halfords they are recommending 5w30.

Would 10w40 do damage to my car if I were to use it?

Thanks in advance

5W-30 is what is recommended by Ford, unless you have any issues then it is best to stick with that.

A 10W oil will be thicker on startup, generally you want oil on startup to flow quickly so in this sense 5W is better. If you car is very high mileage I would recommend a 5W/40 oil.

What Adam said is correct, I use that oil all time because it was recommended by Ford. They recommend ARE wrong, they don't bother to check it. Better stay with Ford recommended.
