Mk7 Fogs/DRL on a Style trim?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at picking up a Fiesta after my glorious 18yr old MK1 Focus was written off a month back (RIP). Ideally I'd like a MK7.5 but as I only do 1500-2000 miles a month it's probably not worth the extra cost.

Therefore I'm looking at a MK7, a lot of the cheap ones seem to be a Style/Style+ which seems to have a different bumper to all the other trims which has foiled my plans to fit Fog/DRL's in the bumpers light bay. The style/style+ seems to just have a sort of oval slit so presumable that rules out fogs that look factory fitted and means I'd need to botch some DRL's into that space, rather than having halo ones around the fog.

Any other ideas of how to do it on a Style/Style+.

Thanks

The only MK7 to come with DRL as standard was the late model special edition Centura, mounted below the headlights along the visible 'crease' on the bumper. So I guess either make yourself something similar to that or get a better bumper/model that has fogs as standard for halo ones instead.AETV44601405_5.thumb.jpg.9e692488ee19368c7e3bf42842c8e0a4.jpg

2000 miles a month is over double the average milage...

The mk7.5 doesn't have brilliant DRL's really. Most people wouldn't know the difference between that and just having the headlights on all the time.

Sorry mean 2k a year. Still can't decide if it's worth the extra from a 7 to a 7.5 though. Bluetooth seems like a faff to fit on lower trim 7's with having to replace the screen as well.

Yep. The actual fitting is relatively easy provided the wiring is there. It's getting it to work after that's hard. Having said that if you're hardly using the car, do you really need it?

My Mrs had an Edge (which was between Style and Zetec). It came with front fogs as a result of a misbuild, but there seem to be quite a lot around from that time (late 2011/early 2012) with the same thing - might be worth keeping a look out for.

Unlikely to have been a misbuild. Would've been either part of an optional extra pack or someone retrofitted them.

No, it was a misbuild we had from new - fogs were not an option on the Edge.  My dealer told me they had a lot come through like that.
