Suggestions for center console addition...

Featured Replies

I have just acquired a very modest 2005 Focus Mk2 LX, which is the only car I've ever had without a 'center console'. There are a couple of 'universal' ones listed on Ebay that suggest they'll fit, but has anyone fitted an aftermarket console to an LX? I simply miss somewhere to support my arm, and put 'bits' into!

Why not get a Ghia/Titanium centre console from a breakers. From a 2005 they must be cheap parts now?

Should have said, my 'skill' level is on the lower side of 'eejit', so am looking for something that will plug & play! I get the feeling that something from another model car may look pretty, but will need some skill to fettle it to fit - I simply don't have that...

Came across this image on Google - the circled part is the bit I wish to have! Anyone know if it's available separately, or even have a part number?

On the MK2 i.e. pre facelift the main centre console is all 1 piece so the only way to get the cubby hole/arm rest part is to fit the higher spec centre console.  On the MK2.5 (post facelift) that part is detachable so you can fit one of the swanky leather or suede ones of ebay.

Yep! You're either drilling holes and screw-ing in an aftermarket one (which will look a bit gash imo) or changing out the centre console. It sounds harder than it is really.

Edit: why is ***** (screw-ing without the hyphen) on the forums censor list lol.

I would get on eBay and buy a whole used console. It's only screws and clips, easy DIY job.

Do you think the following console would fit? I'm concerned that the reviews from previous purchases say it doesn't fit, but maybe they didn't have an early  bog standard 'LX' ?

No I'd avoid that, the reviews on ebay are awful! I don't think it makes a difference what trim you have as I believe the centre consoles are the same. Either way you're screw-ing into your centre console with that one.
