2013 Fiesta diesel oil & filter change?.

Featured Replies

Hi, my first post so please excuse any silly or obvious questions!.

I am due to carry out an oil and filter change on a friend's 2013 Fiesta diesel and would be extremely grateful for any particular hints and tips. I'm not a total novice to home servicing or Ford's, having owned a couple of Mk5 Escorts and a 2003 Fiesta but I have not worked on anything this recent and want to make sure I have everything needed in advance.

Thanks!.

Matt.

The oil change is easy enough, same as the old cars really.  Fuel filter can be a pain to bleed on these though, you'll need a hand pump to draw the fuel through the new filter.

Thanks that's reassuring!. It's the oil filter I'm changing, fortunately. Without having the car here to check, can anyone tell me whether the oil filter will be the spin on type, or the plastic housing with an inner element?.

Thanks.

Ah yeah, I misread the title lol, thought you were doing both oil and fuel filter.  It's a paper cartridge under a plastic housing.  Think it's a 27mm socket to undo.

Thanks Tom, that's great!.

Yep, 27mm socket required, sump plug 21mm socket.

Plastic housing is situated under the air intake hose

filter has a projection at bottom of it with rubber o ring on. this needs to go into a hole in the bottom of housing. Can be fiddly as you cant see the hole when inserting the filter.

Ian, Isetta many thanks indeed!.

I had a quick look at the car today and would I be correct in saying I need to remove the air filter hose to get to the oil filter? And drop the underside engine protection to get at the sump plug?.

Looks like the exhaust back box needs changing too, but that's another story!.
