Fuel injectors

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a ford fiesta 1.5 tdci 2013. My car cutout whilst driving along the motorway today. After looking in the engine bay I saw alot of fuel built up around the fuel injectors. I think it might be the seals around the injectors and  just wanted to know if anyone's had a go at replacing them or does anyone think it might be something else that caused the car to cut out. Is it a hard job to change the seals ? Will I need any special tools ?

not sure if it would make it cut out if the seals were leaking a bit. and it is unlikely they would all leak at same time.  did car restart?   on my previous 1,6tdci they all leaked at some point, at different times, not all at same time. I did have pools of fuel around the injectors. It never made a difference to the running but it smelt of burning diesel fuel in the car and the engine made a sort of chuffing noise as the compression was pusing past the seal. Every time I cured it by doing injector retaining nuts up a bit tighter, not much, if you strip them or snap the studs you will have major major problems.

Thank you for getting back to me. I thought it would cause the engine to cut out because it's not getting enough fuel? maybe  ? However, the car did Restart after looking at the engine for a little bit. Do you have any other thoughts On what could have caused the car to cut out like that?
