A few odd issues

Featured Replies

Hi all hopefully I'm in the right area :/

I am in need of a little assistance, I have a Fiesta 1.25l 16v from 2005 and have a few weird issues and was wondering if anyone could give me a little help figuring them out.

1. No matter what my temperature is set to, I just get hot air into the cab which is just annoying and uncomfortable. It even keeps blowing if I turn off the motors, I've had the car for about 10 months now and I have a receipt from a garage for a thermostat replacement done about 2 years ago if this is any help.

2. I get a weird squealing noise from the clutch when its turned on in the cold only if the clutch is released but goes once the engine is warmed. I think this is clutch bearing but don't want to jump to it without knowing a bit more first. (If it  is bearing should I replace the clutch to as I presume something like that being off wouldn't do much good to it?)

3. What are the revs supposed to idle at? I have had a few issues with being at about 800rpm and when releasing the clutch it drops to 400rpm and I get engine management light unless I press heavily on the accelerator which is when I slowly start to move. Annoyingly today it is idling at 1000rpm and when the clutch is released I slowly move without the accelerator. (Could this be linked with my clutch noise issue)

Thanks for any assistance.

1. don't know

3. don't know

2. possibly clutch release bearing. I don't know value / condition of car but to be honest, it's a lot of labour to get to the clutch release bearing and for a car of that age most people would just live with it. It might never get worse, they can go on for a long time like that.   I don't know how much you use the car. But carrying on with it probably won't cause extra expense at a later date (meaning I don't think it would cause other damage to otherwise perfectly good parts)
