That easy fuel system !

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all, I have recently purchased a 2nd hand Focus (58 plate) and it has the Easy fuel system . I have been having reaL

difficulties fuelling the car as it’s just stops at the pump  every few seconds and a couple of times diesel has splashed out. To top it off when I pulled the pump out the cat the easy fuel lock system was in the end of the pump ! A black plastic insert, a black circular part with a lip on and a

metal locking ring. I’ve put it all back but it’s clearly broken so needs replacind. Is this a huge job ? I cannot seem to find the parts anywhere , if it’s a beast of a job or even if you can get a conversion cap to go back to a ‘normal’ fuelling system. I also have no idea how I am going to get fuel in without it stopping every few seconds. Any help or advice much appreciated as I don’t know what to do ! Thank you . Image below

Unsure if this helps but when we 1st had our car there was a issue with the cap, so they replaced the full neck as the cap is specified for the diesel not the petrol variant, the cap on diesel is fatter they have done this so you cannot put the wrong fuel in.  I believe (mayb wrong) there are magnets or something running around the cap so nobody can enter. In theory you shouldn't be able push it open when car locked or unlocked.

If you have the black funnel that should come with the car you could try putting that in then fuelling into the funnel, long process but fill tank up should last a while

just get a new neck off someone breaking a diesel. shouldn't be too difficult to change. just pop the wheel and arch liner off.

Before doing that check the filler works as it should.

It's called cack handed lol nah I know I was brought up with the old ones and when I got one of these was like wtf. You need to not hold the pump elevated like you would on the normal ones or it will click like f**k just straight as can be and will click when full. Definitely you need a full replacement that's destroyed.
