1.4 TDCi trouble accelerating uphill

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I recently bought a 1.4 TDCi 57 plate fiesta style and things haven't been quite right.

Since buying the car its always had an issue with going uphill regardless of gear, the car just doesn't want to take off and struggles. Main route to work takes me on the A14 and one particular bit seems to be hillier than the rest and the car struggles to go past 60. Some does it wont even make it to 70 in this spot which is annoying for me and everyone stuck behind me. The local garage I had the car in at changed the injector seals, sorted out an air leak, replaced my glow plugs and my EGR valve as went to start and it had gone into limp mode. There's little to no change though but thankfully hasn't gone into limp mode since. Only difference is the car hasn't decided to kangaroo up a hill in 3rd since.

If anyone has any idea on what might be wrong I'd greatly appreciate some advice as I'm not that clued up on cars and nobody else seems to be able to point me in the right direction.
