ST Grille

Featured Replies

So my bonnet wouldn't open last week and I was in a right mess.

I had a look online and read loads about pressing this white thing in but none of it made sense, so while I was banging around in the grille with the screwdriver I snapped one of the fins on the rad grille, I was so mad, so I thought might as well go the whole way now and snapped the bugger out lol.

To open the bonnet it was easy, from behind the bonnet key behind the grill, you feel the wire back to a rubber bung, you pull that back, place a long flat head screwdriver at the 12 o'clock position and put moderate pressure on it, then get someone to turn the key left then immediately right and the bonnet will open. If it doesn't first go you might need more pressure or sometimes less.

With bonnet now open I could order a new grille and I bought the ST one and it's a big improvement over the standard one.

Before you throw your old grille away make sure you take off the Ford badge and spring to put back onto the new grille.

25 quid and a nice fresh look 🙂

 Cheers mate.

Am sure cos it's got original ST grille on that I'll go that bit faster too 😄

When ya bonnet release thing snaps ya need to buy a new unit and that comes with 2 keys. At first I didn't like the idea but now I am cool with it, means I can open the bonnet with the engine running, plus no chance of snapping my ignition key in the bonnet lock as I have separate key for this now.

Could carry it or just leave it in the car for as and when ya need it.
