Featured Replies

OK looking for help son gone to car this morning and it's Dead popped its mortal coil.

Had to use the key to get in no dash lights nothing electrical at all so he connected a battery charger after an hr still nothing.
So a neighbour tried with a set of jump leads and still nadda diddly squat electrically.

Any ideas greatly appreciated obviously i'm having to relay information to him as i'm at work not easy as when i told him to

disconnect battery his answer was how do I do that

I'd suspect a dead battery. They can suddenly fail without warning. One of the things that can happen is the lead paste falls out of the plate grid and shorts a cell. Once that happens there's nothing you can do other than get a new one. If you measure the voltage and it never gets above about 11.5V even after charging that's likely to be the cause.

On modern cars the ECU will detect a low battery and shut everything down in an attempt to protect it from deep discharge.

Was suspecting this myself but as we are supposedly looking for a new car tomorrow due to other issues with it was hoping to save some coin
