Engine malfunction - DTC D900

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a ford focus 1.6 Ti-VCT 2009.

Yesterday i drove back from work about 5-6km when suddenly the beeper started to beep, car gauges suddenly sweeps (I was driving  with 100km/h), many leds at dash was light up and there was the "Engine malfunction" message at dash . I pull over immediately and stop the engine. After a while i start the engine again and there was no problem. I drove for 5-6 km more and i arrived home. I made the dash trick and there was a DTC #01 D900 fault code. I google that code and they say that it is a communication issue. I thought if it is only once that this happens  there is no problem.

Next morning I go to work and everything was ok. But at the return it happens again. This time it happens very soon. This time i drove for a while with the warning message "Engine malfunction". After 30seconds  the message alter to "Acceleration reduced" and the car gauges stop sweeps but the ESP led was lighting. I stop the engine and after a while i start the engine again and there was no problem.

A bluetooth elm can not read fault codes but with the dash trick there was the DTC #01 D900 code. The elm manage to clear the fault code even it can not read it

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks

The dash code readouts are a pile of crap. You need Forscan to have the best chance of pulling a code.

Hi I’ve neen having exactly the same, Halfords couldn’t find any thing on there diagnostics, told me to get the key looked at could no the transponder , but it’s not the key guy said the key fine, some one said disconnect battery to reset the computer but the problem might come back, it might have to be a job for a technician to repair the cluster board.

Hi everyone just to inform and to give yous a heads up if yous are getting the engine malfunction light coming up on your dashboard as mine is atm and I have discovered the problem as I have to change my glow plug/ circuit heater A and my turbo was overboosting and under boosting meaning I wasnt getting any power at all. Your dpf could be blocked and what the glow plug does is extracts smoke from your car and it can't do that once the dpf is blocked. Mine is bunt out my glow plug so I have to get it changed. Im driving a 1.6 tdci for focus 2010 UK spec. Its a disaster. I hope I was of some use to yous. I ran the diagnostics on me car and 4 faults came up 2 being the turbo one being the dpf and the other the glow plugs. Unfortunately the only way to fix it is to get the glow plugs changed. Dtc 0900 is what this fault is and what I said above is how to fix it

Hi you may need to check your glow plugs. I have the exact same problem and i ran diagnostics on my car and had 4 faults 2 being my turbo overboosting and under boosting 1 being my dpf was blocked and the other the glow plugs/circuit heater A. They help the car extract smoke and mine burnt out so had to replace them. Hope I was of some help

I'd have hoped they sorted the problem after 10 months lol.
