Focus MK2 1.8 tdci EGR valve

Featured Replies

Given that the EGR valve Is intergrated with the manifold there are 2 problems.....

1.the erg valve gets stuck

2. it burns out the motor controning it

3. the bigeset problem The actual vavle is intergrated to the manifold

OK so lots of people have reported issues with limp home mode you can ty card cleaner seafoam etc.....this will work on and engine that has been maintained bu has'nt worked on mine

So spent £30 on ebay for a new EGR motor Given that the egr valve is integral to the inlet manifold (ps they call it the Valve)

There is one thing that I can see that will cause a problem there is a metal gear and then a plastic half moon cog..... Will post photos later

There is a rubber tube on top of the EGR valve going to to some ERG cleaner

Thinking will squirt it in there then live to spoke for a bit then start the engine OK all roles say no but what have I got to loose ????

Could be a cheap fix or I am scrappig he car will leat you know at the weekend

Oh and tried reseting any code by diagnostic but nothing found

Yup, the EGR design in terms accessiblity on the Lync engine is a total barsteward and althoiugh the EGR issue can be prevented if the owner realises early enough in the car's life that the Lynx engine is quite happy to have it's EGR blanked and won't throw an EML.  Once it's knackered it's not a small job to fix, it doesn't seem like you've got much to lose by trying the EGR cleaner approach.

Before I blanked mine a few years ago, I used Wynns EGR cleaner which seemed to encourage quite a lot of sooty crap to leave the EGR via the exhaust, whether or not this type of "fix" will be sufficient, I guess there's only one way to find out!
