Doors won't lock with remote

Featured Replies

Heya!

My ford mondeo 2008 mk4 doors won't lock with the remote anymore. Tried changing the batteries but still nothing. They will lock with the key but radio and armature lights will still stay on. Any suggestions what might be causing it and how to fix it? Is it a common problem?

Sometimes if the fob has been without power (dead or no battery) for quite a while, it will lose its programming. There is a procedure in the car user manual to re-programme for remote control fobs. If you have no manual, have a look at:

Next trick might be to borrow a fob from a similar car, and see if you can re-programme you car for that fob. It does not alter the fob, just adds them to the stored list in the car. If a know good fob does not work, that would suggest a problem with the remote control receiver.
