MK3 ESP Light

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but can anyone offer some suggestions for this little problem?

The ESP/traction control light has started lighting up and staying on once you hit about 40.  I've been round and cleaned up the plugs hoping that this would resolve the issue, which naturally it hasn't, so now I'm faced with going round unbolting each sensor and cleaning them in the hope that'll fix it.

Is there a simple way to ID which sensor it is without doing all of them and assuming that its more than just a dirty sensor can someone point me in the direction of a test so I can give them a once over?

I'll get on to the running too lean/cat fault codes which I'm putting down to an O2 sensor fault later once I manage to get the ***** thing out.

Get it code read by a garage or someone with gear. Im sure there are people on the forum that could help. Hell if you're near stowmarket I'll code read one evening for a beer. [emoji106] It could be a multitude of things and getting it code read will at least point you in the right direction

Already had it hooked up but the ESP isn't showing as a fault.

The ones it has chucked up are Bank 1 too lean and when that wasn't there it had decided it was the cat on Bank 1 again, so I'm currently working on the principle theres a fault on the O2 sensor.  Which isn't in the most accessible place and amazingly there was a tool I didn't own, crows foot spanner arrived today so I should be able to pull it at the weekend.

I was a Landy owner so been spoilt with loads of room in the engine bay and 300 you tube vids that cover every possible fault you can have - pretty much all of them are solved with a grinder.
