Intermittent problem with my 49k mile Fusion

Hi all,  I hope that someone could share some idea what could be the problem with my Fusion 1.4i  Sometimes first thing in the morning when l start the car it wont idle and stalls.  But if l keep my foot on throttle for a few secs, it will idle (just).  It only happens occasionally, and is a right PITA.  When l brought the car, it was fine, and then l started using TESCO unleaded and this is when it started to happen.  I have since been using a better quality fuel (BP or Shell), and its not been doing it so often.  But has it when l used TESCO fuel done the damage.  Has anybody had the same problem(s)???

And when the engine gets warmer it is OK, starts with no problems.  What is the problem??

Your Advice, help is very much appreciated

Lee

i had problems with tesco fuel with my old fiesta, so started using Shell unleaded and never had another problem.

i suspect its not the octane rating it says.
