Long shot here but anyone put a smaller belt on their 1.6 TDCI to avoid the AC compressor? 

Mines packed up and seized solid stopping the engine cranking. I want to get a new compressor on there but can’t afford to put it in at the moment. I’ve taken the 6pk966 belt off and it’s running fine, but of course I won’t be running it as I’m currently not driving the alternator. 

Using a bit of string, it looks like a 6pk795 belt should bypass the AC compressor and allow me to keep on motoring for the time being. Temporary repair to keep myself mobile. 

Wondering if anyone else has gone to a smaller belt for a similar reason at any time?
