mk5 - Warning chimes not coming through audio control module

Featured Replies

Usually the warning sounds like parking sensors, door open, etc come through the speakers but i've noticed they've just started coming from behind the dash, like an internal speaker. The radio works fine. Any help much appreciated.

I have the same issue in my 19 ranger, took it to the dealer today and they can’t figure it out!

I had same *****, just mark and unmark in settings for warning chims. After that it should Work again

Did you ever get to the root of this?   I’m experiencing this intermittently on my ‘17 Mondeo.

Had it in for a service in the main dealer who couldn’t see anything wrong despite it playing up when they had it. It also displays the message “system off to save battery” when I get in and turn it on.

In view of the dash message I would suggest a full battery check and test anyway.

I am NOT sure, but I think I read somewhere that if the battery goes below a certain level the chime sounds only come from behind the dash

Its because battery charge is below threshold. Many functions can be altered or shut down. Very common  at present during covid on all models with " intelligent battery monitor/charger"  because of lots of short journeys that won't put much back into battery.

I had mine in the main dealer for a service, told them about this issue, it was even present whilst they had the car.  They told me everything was normal, despite me telling them that in 3 years of ownership, this is the first time I'd ever seen it.  They told me they did a battery test and advised it had a good state of charge and was a "good battery" (maybe they gave it a treat for being good..).  I do suspect the battery, it was even booked into another garage for a second opinion, day of the visit it was behaving itself so I cancelled it.  A few days later and boom, its acting up again.   I've even taken it out for a run.

What's weird though, ive had battery issues before, in fact a year after getting the car, the battery was replaced under warranty by Ford.  The car struggled to start, the fans wouldnt work when driving, the heated screen didnt work (no idea if its working now),but mainly it struggled to start.    The whole time, the chimes were fine, never saw this message on the screen and that was a confirmed dodgy battery.

This time, it starts no bother, doesnt even sound like the battery is weak.  Everything works (well, cant work out how to test the heated screen as its summer/autumn now) as it should.

I get this from time to time, and as my battery was always sitting below the threshold for the Heated Screen/Start Stop features to work, I put it all down to a battery saving feature.  It makes sense as using the door speakers must use a lot more power than the smaller internal one behind the dash.

What is the battery threshold for the screen / start stop?  The other day it was iced up, tried the heated screen and it didn’t come on.   Used the engineering test menu which reported the battery level at 11.7v.

the car starts without hesitation.

I was recently told by the dealer that the battery had a ‘good level of charge’

I don't recall where exactly i found this particular info but someone said it was 74% or similar charge, didn't mention a specific voltage.  I finally got around to changing my battery last week and so far all is well.  Still in the testing/running it in phase though.

When you put reconnected the battery after charging, did you need to reset any of the infotainment systems?  I don't see a passcode for them anywhere.

Sorry for the late reply, must have notifications off, the only settings i had to reset were the time and possibly the temperature from F to C.  DAB stations possibly but nothing else.  I have the Sony stereo so no code needed.
