spare tyre in the boot

Featured Replies

Anyone done it is there a kit for the boot been looking around can't find anything. I'm on holiday had a screw in the tyre so would like a spare tyre in boot. Would a 17" wheel fit in the boot ?

There seem to be very few Ecosport owners on here, the question has been asked on the Ecosport OC forum and this thread has a pic that might be of interest:

I'm sure Ecosports used to come with a wheel on the tailgate. Don't know whether that can be retrofitted to later models or whether it used a totally different tailgate?

They did. It switched to gunge or spacesaver in one of the facelifts. I think I've seen a topic somewhere about retrofitting to the tailgate but understandably it does make it pretty heavy, even though its sideways opening. I think the bracket was about £135 from the online Ford store and I guess you would have to drill the tailgate, buy a cover also and do something about security?

IMO it was a poor decision to remove the spare wheel from the rear door. I recently bought a 2019 Ecosport which came with a spare wheel where the previous owner simply has the wheel in the boot - I took this out as IMO it's dangerous to have something this heavy in the boot.
It's ridiculous so many modern cars come without a spare wheel.
