KA MK2 09 Radio replacement

Featured Replies

Hi

Am looking to replace the head unit in a MK2 09 plate KA - have a Sony head unit - Halfords said we don’t need a iso harness for it - the cables which come with the new unit fit but no life on the head unit when turning on the ignition.

Put the old one back in and it’s fine so the cabling etc is fine.

Anyone any ideas what we are missing?

Cheers

Marc

@simps100 you need to take a 12V supply to the red cable on the new ISO harnass. Typically Red is 12V+, black is ground and yellow is also 12V but constant 12V. Just confirm what cable is what with your instruction manual for your new stereo head unit.

You’ll more than likely find you have no spare fuses holders left, so Halfords do a doubler you can plug in that can take 2 fuses. Then take a flying lead to your new harness.

Also if you haven’t already done. Check with a multimeter which fuse only supplies voltage when the ignition is turned on. Otherwise your radio will be on constantly - not good if you forget it’s on and the next morning you come to a dead battery.

How do you attach the new wire to the harness?
