Strange noise when engine stops???

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Recently bought a 2.0 tdci Titanium X MK4 2009. Lovely car to drive, has a few niggles but one that I need the answer to is the strange noise coming from the engine bay when the engines turned off. It sounds like pressure being released. To be honest it sounds like a Jim Davidson ***** lasting about 10 seconds. Can't see anything obvious and wondered if anyone knows what it could be before I start pulling everything to bits.

There are a few self-tests performed after shutoff.  The main one is the EGR test.  Nothing to worry about.

Sometimes vac systems shutdown (heater vents etc) and make an odd moaning noise. My 2.0 diesel groans every time.
