Gearbox oil

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I have a mk4, 2011 Mondeo with a 2.2tdci (200ps) engine and a 6 speed manual transmission.

I wanted to change the gearbox oil, since I am planning to keep it for a while. There was no specific oil mentioned in the owners manual, so I visited a local Ford dealer, which gave me a Ford 75W FE oil with WSS-M2C200-D2 specification.

However in the Ford wiki it says that in my M66 gearbox I should use oil with specification WSS-M2C200-C3.

Does anyone know if the -D2 specification oil meets/exceeds the -C3 specification and can be used in the gearbox?

Any information will be appreciated!

Thanks!

The Haynes manual (S-Max / Galaxy Diesel covers the 2.2) says the D2 spec. Don't know if that really helps or not...you could try phoning another Ford parts dept to check.

2 specs, same oil, so it's fine. The spec on your car is D2 anyway. I checked on ford Etis for you.

Hey guys!

Thank you very much for your answers!

Will proceed with the oil change later this week with a calm mind 🙂

Cheers!
