Hi.

I'm Andy, and I've had a Galaxy 2.2TDCI for a few months now. It's only my second Ford, the other being a 1979 Mk2 Escort Popular Plus, back (later 80s) when I was a teenager. That car had a 15cm tall driver's window when I last drover it, well as I bounced it across a dual carriageway on its roof. In away I wish I still had that car.

This Galaxy has not been the best of (re) introductions to Ford ownership but I cannot fault Ford on that. I purchased it privately from north London, and since then I've had turbo pipe split, high pressure diesel pump identified as faulty, exhaust temp sensor wire ground out bringing car to a halt, battery fail, Xenon lamps fail. I put these down to either a poor garage service (non-dealer) or more likely a miserly owner who didn't see the point in maintaining a car correctly. The pump, had obviously been playing up, they had a hand balloon valve installed in the fuel line. The headlamps were a lovely (dim) shade of purple indicating very little light emitted. The battery which should have ideally been 85Ah was a 70Ah one. I'm doing the work myself (I like working on cars as a pass-time) so it's not proving a money pit (although nearly £600 just to supply a new pump was painful).

Despite the problems, I'm really enjoying the Ford, much more than I expected (needed a tall vehicle to transport elderly parents).

Hi Welcome

I'm really glad I joined this forum, and read some of the sections that didn't relate to the fault I was experiencing at the time (dpf sensor code).

It caused me to realise that the annoying little dash warning about front light malfunction (which hadn't gone away once every lamp was checked and even a D1S replaced),could be diagnosed via a plug-in device. So, I've invested the £17.95 and purchased a tunnel rat elm. I now know that the fault is showing as a rear height adjuster fault (I've not looked under the car so could even be a loose wire). To know even what the fault was via a dealer I expect they'd have wanted 30-60 mins bookable time as a minimum so I think this forum has saved me money already.

Now, if only the water would stop falling from the sky at the rate of one bucket full per minute per m2, I'd get a chance to look at the wiring and sensor etc.
