Wondering if some one could please help with this , my father in law has a mk4 mondeo 2.0l tdci titanium,  on the top of his engine is a cover feels like a soft rubber , I've found an image from another engine but cant find what it called , his has come apart it to bits and has exposed a part if his engine , does anyone know what this part is called

    Sounds very much like the engine cover to me. There are several for sale on EBay with images to help identification, such as this one:
