58 plate focus Sony cd Bluetooth connection

Featured Replies

Hello guys,I bought a 58 plate focus 1.6 petrol titanium with the single Sony cd head unit,I have been trying to pair my mobile to it but doesn't want to find the head unit.it says in the owners manual in the telephone section, requirements for Bluetooth connection, the following are required before a Bluetooth connection can be made

1. The Bluetooth connection must be,activated on the phone and the audio unit.make the Bluetooth menu option in the audio unit is set to On.

when I search the units menu I can't find the Bluetooth menu option. My old 58 plate focus estate had the 6000cd unit and that was a caker to pair.my phone, searches but can't find the head uni but wants to twin with the neighbours echo!.any advise would be grateful guys, thanks in advance.doug

confused about your questions...

does it really have BT? its optional (would expect on a titanium)

the modules allegedly break so then that would stop you

which module is to the left of the glove box (behind trim near the door pillar) ?

if you think it does music as well, an update reversed the pairing process so the car looks for your phone (moving to the modern spying BT connection method…. just like tracking beacons in the shops !!!)

Thanks for the reply boutus I will have to take off the panel and have a look,is that the panel on side of glove box when doors open?.i just thought it being a titanium model it would have BT as my 1.6 tdci style had BT connection on the 6000 head unit.knowing my luck it won't have it,it was just with the Sony cd that's in the new to me car it has the phone buttons on it so i just assumed it had BT and could connect to phone.

Is it this one by any chance? Mine had the same and it definitely had Bluetooth as standard, there’s two editions of this headunit on the MK3 one with navigation and one without as far as I’m aware 25fc5c290d8e1e6e050e9fffd9caa476.png

Hi Chris,no it's not that one my car is the mk 2.5 with the black and silver Sony single disc unit.i am going to look under and beside the glove box for the BT module.botus said earlier that it might not have BT but would think with the head unit having the buttons for it,it would have as my bog standard style had it,but he,s probably correct as there's no sign of instructions for twinning in the units menu! Thanks for the reply.

It is actually very simple on a Focus MK2/MK2.5:

If the radio remote stalk has a VOICE button on top the car has Bluetooth/Voicecontrol. If there is no VOICE button the car does not have Bluetooth/Voicecontrol.

Hi wilco,I have no voice button on radio stick, thanks for the tip.i would be £100+ for the ford parts second hand to upgrade.i managed to get a sonyericson hands free kit brand new in box for £25 ,I will be trying it out on a 12v battery first to see if it will pair with my phone first before trying to fit it.many thanks Doug.

if you don't have the voice control, its the early one (I think less reliable) it only does phone calls and they go for 15 quid on ebay

100 quid is the starting price of the later ones...  where the wiring needs modifying and the last ones are a bit more BVC module 8M5T-19C112-AN, AP, AR, AS, AT

I have a Focus 2.0 Titanium on 57 plate and have a Sony CD Gen 2. I want to pair my new mobile but can't see Bluetooth anywhere on the menu. I have the voice control on the stalk and have had previous mobiles paired to it. From what I have read here and because I have used other mobiles, I assume I have Bluetooth but should I be seeing BT on the menu please?

Thanks in advance

ford were really stupid speccing the radio, it looks like every focus mk2 got a phone system - but they didn't, but they did ALL have buttons to work an extra module where fitted

one clue is the microphone up by the interior light (but even here they moved it on the last cars) - if the light unit surround is twice the size with a central obvious microphone grill u may have the system

I don't get the post about looking for voice control button as this was optional on the higher end cars? as I understand it

most have nothing (but looks like it does)

you can have simple phone only without voice control on early cars

later higher spec could have music BT streaming with BT phone and then with or without voice

Thanks for your reply Botus. If I do have BT, would I be seeing the by Blue light logo on the radio unit? Not seeing it.

Thank you

never seen any blue light on mine and the phone works (via Bluetooth - for calls and music streaming - on both an apple or an android phone)

if it had phone system on the car its got to have the microphone somewhere....   used to be from 2005 to 2009 in a larger interior light unit (see pic)... then I think some of the very last went with a silly thing on the pillar...
