MK4 Mondeo 2.0tdci. Not starting and indicators blinking rapidly when attempted.

Hi All.

Hoping someone can help.

Went to start my car today and foolishly didn't realise it had been left in gear. The car stalled and now won't even try to start. When I turn the key there is a fast clicking sound and the indicators blink rapidly. Thinking I may have blown a relay or fuse somewhere? I was advised to lock the car, then unlock and try again but the issue persists.

Battery, you need a new one.

I've had a flat battery before. This seems different. Don't remember the fast clicking or indicators going strange last time.

Definitely flat battery mate.

Ok battery removed. Will charge overnight and report back when re-fitted.

Ok fair cop. I was convinced it wasn't the battery but after a 20 hour charge off the car and being re-fitted........ The car now starts fine 😃. Thanks Guys.

The fact that 1 bad/failed start was sufficient to cause your car not to start would suggest that either your battery is approaching the end of it's service life or/and it's not getting the chance to charge up once you've got your car started i.e. you make lots of short journeys.
