MK4 Mondeo 2.0tdci - Alarm Going Off At 3am Every Night

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if someone could help or direct me in the right direction on this one. My alarm started going off at 2 - 3am every night and driving me and my neighbours crazy.

I had a car battery tester already and tested the battery which indicated the battery needed replacing, which I did because the battery looked like the original. However as soon as I replaced the car battery the alarm started going off again at 4am.

I've tried disabling the internal alarm sensors thinking maybe a moth has got in at some point but this may no difference.

Funny thing is the car battery tester says the battery is fine out of the car but as soon as the battery is hooked up it indicates it needs replacing again. Almost like something is drawing power when it shouldn't be.

The indicators flash and I can hear the alarm siren but not the horn (if this helps), when the alarm is going off.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to reply in case anyone else had this similar issue. I did a lot of trial and error and discovered it was one of the switches which was either faulty or dirty. I went around each switch (bonnet, boot, doors) cleaning one at a time, and if the alarm went off I moved onto the other switch.

Luckily for me it was the second night I discovered it was the passenger door switch. I have it a good dose of cleaning fluid, opened and closed the door to work the fluid into the switch and now my alarm problem appears to be solved (for now).

Not heard the alarm go off randomly for weeks now 😎

Thanks

Thanks for the update 👍

i am not 100 certain but fairly certain. On my 2015 Fiesta if the alarm is activated, connecting a fault code reader (ELM327 device on the OBD port) will tell you which sensor caused the alarm to sound. I do not know if that only applied on newer cars or if it would also apply on 2007. I am assuming it is standard ford alarm fitted at that factory. I know it's fixed now but for anyone searching the forum for solution to similar problem, this could be useful info
