Focus Mk2 2005 TDCi 1.6 Won't Start - DTC P2458

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

So I was on the local dual carriageway a few days ago, and the car started stuttering, then basically cut out.

I turned it back on and it started and cut out again 30 sec after. After I managed to get it off the carriageway, park it somewhere safe, switch it off - it wouldn't start again.

I've had it towed home, I've hooked it up to my laptop, using Forscan and ELM327. I cleared the DTCs (maybe I shouldn't have) then restarted it to get the fresh ones.

I get DTC P2458 which is about the DPF regeneration duration. The thing is - I know the DPF is not blocked.

The car cranks but it just won't start. Why would it cut out like that though just because of the DPF??! Isn't that dangerous?

Anyway, so I go to Forscan, it says do a manual regen. I tried to do it, but it say's heat the engine to 65c. Well, how can I if it won't let me start the car?!?!

Have you seen this before? Thanks!

Fuel pump/injectors.

Blocked fuel filter? Leak in fuel pipe so it’s sucked air in and the fuel run back down into tank?  These cars don’t have a pump to get the fuel up to the high pressure pump, and bleeding them is a pain. If there is any air between the fuel in the tank and the high pressure pump , the high pressure pump can’t suck up the fuel
