2008 Mondeo Zetec won't start

Featured Replies

Hi all

2008 Mondeo 2.3 auto, normally good as gold, did a 150km drive on Sunday without issue. Owned by me last 8 years.

Only recent history is that the entertainment/info console stopped releasing discs & makes some rapid clicks at times (as if it's trying to eject)

Wouldn't start today. Not turning over. Indicator lights flashed rapidly, also ASC & PDC lights flickered, then "engine malfunction" warning in dash panel, then everything shut down.

Tried another couple of times, same result but lots of clicking & stuff, but always ends with all lights going out. Central locking working ok still.  Battery leads look secure & good condition, battery maybe 3 years old.

Is it possible the ent unit has drained the battery overnight? But the central locking would still work? I'm guessing not.

All ideas / thoughts welcome!

Thanks in advance

Just to update this;

Went back out after about 3 hours, emote locking worked fine, turned the key & the hazards came on, flickered a little slower each time then died on the 6th flicker. Absolutely nothing worked after that, still a faint background electrical whirring.  No central locking now either.

Again - all thoughts & ideas welcome!

cheers

Have you checked the battery?
