Mk3 TDCI Ticking issue

Featured Replies

I have an issue with my mk 3 focus where in gear 3 from 25 to 35 mph under natural deceleration a ticking noise is present with the windows down.

I have tried every other gear is fine the noise only occurs in 3rd. If I accelerate or engage the clutch the ticking stops. If I rengage the clutch within the pre mentioned speed zone the ticking returns.

Any ideas what it could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If this noise is heard under drive, that's when the car is pulling, it suggests to me that you have a driveshaft issue, it could be bearings at the gearbox end or a CV joint the hub end. Jack the front of the car up and rotate each wheel to and fro and see if you can hear a clicking.
