issue with DPS filter; Engine Mgmt warning

Featured Replies

Got a Ford Mondeo Diesel 2 litre TDCI 2012 model.  Been getting an Engine Management warning light. This was following an incident where the car was driven over small debris after an accident involving other cars. Mechanic cleaned DPS filter which cleared it for 3 weeks.  Had the filter tested by Fords.  All 3 temp sensors supply a voltage but the Engine management unit advises that the exhaust temp is not getting to the right temp to reGen. Not sure if this is a sensor issue and whether changing all 3 sensors would fix it or if it could be something else.  Any advice would be much appreciated

The vaporiser needs testing, this is a glow plug with a small hole for fuel injection that sits just before the DPF. If this is blocked (which 9/10 is the case in my experience) the fuel can not be injected and heated up to make the DPF hot for regeneration. You'll need a Mitivac to test this. Hope this helps

Hi Luke, I'll speak to garage and see if they can carry out the test. Thanks for your help

Agree with Luke's comment.

The vaporiser on my car was completely blocked with hard carbon build up and consequently diesel could not be injected in to the exhaust to raise the temps up to allow a Regen ( about 600C-650C), hence the error message you are getting about exhaust temps not right for a regen.

I've seen them block up too on fords.
